Healing Starts Here

I am currently not accepting new clients, but please visit my referrals page for a list of local therapists, as well as tips for broadening your search for a therapist through the use of teletherapy. My hope to you is that you can find support and healing in this difficult time.

Welcome

I’m glad you’re here, even if you decide not to schedule an appointment. It means you’re thinking about the ways that your life could be different. How you might be able to respond to the challenges and embrace the joy in your life in more intentional ways. There are many different reasons people decide it’s time to come in to therapy. You may be in the middle of a major life event and need a sense of grounding. You may have old wounds that keep reopening. You may have the sense that something doesn’t feel right in your life, but you don’t know what it is. Whatever your reason is, if you’re ready to look at ways to heal, change, and grow, I’d like to be on your journey with you.

About the Therapist

Allyson Taylor, MA, Licensed Psychologist Associate

My work as a therapist is a part of my sense of purpose in this world. I love to learn and grow, and I enjoy being with others as they grow and change in their own lives. I started my work as a therapist in Kentucky, where I worked at a rape crisis and child advocacy center, and then a university counseling center. I received extensive training in trauma-focused therapy. I am currently an Oregon-Licensed Psychologist Associate. I am trained to work with a wide range of presenting issues, such as anxiety, depression, grief, challenges with adjusting to life changes, and relationship problems. My primary focus, however, is healing from trauma. With the knowledge of how trauma can affect our brains, bodies, and emotional health, I enjoy helping people understand how trauma may be affecting their lives and how to heal.

I have a special interest, both personally and professionally, in mindfulness - the practice of nonjudgmental awareness to the present moment - and gravitate towards treatment modalities that incorporate mindfulness. I utilize treatment models that are shown to be effective through research, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I also understand the importance of meeting clients where they are at and tailoring the therapeutic experience to meet their needs.

From my perspective, the therapeutic process is a collaboration between therapist and client, and the relationship between the two is extremely important. I strive to begin therapy by building a sense of trust and respect with each client as a foundation for deeper therapeutic work. I hope that if you are interested in therapy, you will contact me for a free consultation to see if we could work together to begin your therapeutic journey.
